Dealing with an incident/accident.

Directions to Derby Royal Hospital

  • Turn LEFT out of Club Car Park onto Station Road
  • Following Station Road for 1.1 miles to First Roundabout
  • Take 1st EXIT at Roundabout onto Uttoxeter Road
  • Following Uttoxeter Road for 1.1 miles to 1st Roundabout (going through 2 sets of traffic lights)
  • At major roundabout take last exit for Royal Derby Hospital
  • Follow signs for A&E
  1. Stay calm but act swiftly and observe the situation.
  2. Check for immediate danger or further risk of injury
  3. IF the person is UNCONSCIOUS,
    1. shout for immediate help 
    2. ask someone to call 999
    3. send another person to get the Defibrillator in case of cardiac arrest.
    4. if a first aider is present, let them take over
    5. otherwise lift the head back, check for breathing
    6. if breathing put in recovery position
    7. if NOT breathing start CPR
    8. setup the defibrillator onto the person ASAP and follow its instructions.
  4. IF the person is CONSCIOUS:
    1. Listen to what the injured person is saying
    2. Alert the qualified first aider who should take appropriate action for minor injuries
    3. Call 999 if emergency treatment is required.
    4. Use NHS Direct on 111 if the situation is not serious, but you need further advice or assistance
    5. DO NOT MOVE someone with major injuries.  Wait for emergency medics.
    6. If with junior/youth cricketers:
      1. ensure the rest of the group are OK and adequately supervised
      2. contact the injured person's parent/carer/guardian
    7. DO NOT MOVE someone with major injuries.  Wait for emergency medics.
    8. Complete an Incident / Accident Report Form.
